Can you believe its Christmas time again? From Halloween all the way to Christmas time just flies by. Have you started your Holiday Shopping? Have you figured out how to juggle your bills along with all the presents you need to buy? As a mother of 5 with twin grand-daughters and another grandson…life gets pretty hectic for me. From running my business all the way to my private practice, stress just buzzes around me like a swarm of killer bees!
Have you ever wondered why most people get sick in the winter? Think about it? From Halloween all the way to New Year’s Eve, we are on the constant party roller coaster ride! We are full of demanding schedules with screaming deadlines waiting to suck the life right out of us! We eat wrong! No time to exercise! Our bodies are the last thing on our list. All the extra celebrating we do, with foods and alcohol we only have on rare occasions, start taking toll on our bodies. We are full of anxiety and stress…Our bodies are a wreck!
So…what’s the point here? To run away from all the holiday celebrations? Heck no…. I like to say…party on dude! Here’s some suggestions to help get you through your holiday cheer! Let me wrap it up for you!!!
Stay hydrated. But it’s not hot outside? I don’t feel thirsty? Come on…no more excuses! When indulging on extra rich foods, and alcohol and other goodies, be sure to drink lots and lots of pure clean water. Add a lemon slice, or cucumber slice to add a little flavor to your water. Drink herbal tea before going to bed. I love to drink peppermint tea with passionflower in it to help me unwind from the day. Carry a water bottle with you at all times. Shopping can make you dehydrated fast! Also, by drinking lots of water, your hunger pains don’t strike as much. You feel full so much longer.
Unwind at night with a relaxing bath. Try Lavender bath salts from Mobu Herbals. It helps your mind to recover from a hectic day, and the soothing water relaxes your muscles and puts your body into a relaxed state. This is when a good cup of herbal tea could come in handy. Lights some candles…..mmmm feel the tension leave your body.
Apply a relaxing lotion to your body before going to bed. The product that I recommend to my patients is Kava Calm Balm or the Kava Calm Lavender Lotion. Sometimes you need a little something to help you relax. Stress can be a major contributor to onset diseases. Take care of yourself and treat your body well.
Christmas time can be very challenging to some. Depression is high during this time of the year. Suicide is all time high during this season. Make sure you seek the help of a professional if experiencing any dark side of depression.
Most and important thing… Enjoy yourself and enjoy your loved ones! Get plenty of sleep. Stay hydrated. Have a Merry Christmas!
From my family to yours; Much love. Janell
